Retirement planning

Retirement planning

Retirement planning is the process of determining how much money you’ll need when you eventually stop working. You’ll need to think about what you’ll need to do to achieve those goals. Remember that retirement planning starts long before you retire, the sooner, the better.

This section explains things to think about no matter where you are on the road to retirement. You should read this carefully and act where necessary. It's never too early to organise yourself by having your affairs in order. Make sure that your loved ones don’t struggle if you're no longer around.

Whether you’re counting down the days to retirement or if the thought of it’s just starting to appear on the horizon, it’s likely that you’ll have some important questions:

  • When can I retire?
  • What are my choices?
  • How do I inflation proof my income?
  • How do I claim my State Pension?
  • How much income will I need?
  • What other things do I need to think about?
